The 8-14 day period… The storm track will dip farther south, and a few low-pressure systems will move through the Four Corners region. The outcomes vary considerably between a couple of wimpy storms and a couple of decent ones, but the cumulative effect could be pretty good.

On the top, Euro ensemble precip to 27 Nov at 5am shows 10-16” in the Pagosa area. On the bottom, GFS ensemble precip also shows 10-16”. None of the storms are big, but the cumulative effect could be pretty good.

Euro ensemble 15-day snow for Wolf Creek shows 25”. Note at the end of the period the vertical blue bars indicate between 1” of precip and 4”.  That’s a huge variance!  If we get the higher totals, Wolf Creek will be open by Thanksgiving! It’s great to see a wet pattern for much of the western US.

I’ve been a “weather geek” since I was young child. I joined the military out of high school and was lucky to get my dream job in weather. I have 20 years of military weather experience which includes forecasting the weather all over the world. Highlights were six years in Alaska and making life and death weather decisions during deployments. I love mountains, I love snow, and I love summertime thunderstorms. I spend a bunch of time playing outdoors and found my paradise in Pagosa Springs. I do Pagosa Weather as a community service. Hopefully you find us helpful!
