Forecast discussion…

There is nothing on radar in our area.
Forecast highlights…
*** Lots of sun, dry, and above average temps through Saturday. ***
*** A weak low-pressure system will move through on Monday. ***
Thursday afternoon through Sunday night… A Rex block will prevent systems from moving through our area. Dry upper-level flow will give us a lot of sun and dry weather. Temps will be 5-10 degrees above average through Saturday.
Clouds will increase Sunday, and temps will be a little cooler.
Winds… Afternoon winds will be 5-10mph.
Temps… Thursday highs will be in the high 40s to mid-50s and lows will be in the high teens to mid-20s. Friday and Saturday highs will be in the mid-40s to low 50s and lows will be in the high teens to mid-20s. Sunday highs will be in the low to high 40s and lows will be in the mid-teens to low 20s.
Monday through Tuesday morning… A low-pressure system will move through the Four Corners region. The forecast models are going back and forth on how far south the system will track and how much it will impact us.
We’re on the border between getting nothing and light snow amounts. My expectations for snow are low.
Timing… The first few scattered showers will start over the mountains early Monday morning and then over the valley late Monday morning. The best chance for snow is late Monday morning to early Tuesday morning and then showers will taper off by sunrise Tuesday.
Snow levels… Snow levels will be 6,000ft or lower.
Snow amounts…
Mountains: 2-4”
Valley: zero to 1”
Winds… Monday afternoon gusts will be 15-20mph.
Temps… Highs Monday afternoon will be in the mid-30s to low 40s and lows Monday will be in the low single digits to low teens.

Tuesday afternoon through Thursday… A ridge will build over the region. We’ll have lots of sun and a gradual warming trend.
Winds… Afternoon peaks will be around 10mph.
Temps… Highs Tuesday will be in the low to high 30s and lows Tuesday night will be in the mid-single digits to mid-teens. Highs Wednesday will be in the high 30s to high 40s and lows will be in the high single digits to high teens. Highs Thursday will be in the low to high 40s and lows will be in the low teens to low 20s.
Another weak system could move through 14-16 Dec. At this point it doesn’t look too impressive. At least the weather pattern is trying to get more active!
My next post will be on Saturday.
