Data gaps filled – a story about generous support!…

Thanks to the Springs Resort for sponsoring this storm!

Three new weather sensors thanks to the Springs Resort!

Friday – 15 Apr 2022 – 7:00pm

The Springs Resort reached out to us and asked, “How can we help support Pagosa Weather?” We responded, “We could use additional weather sensors to fill a few data gaps,” They enthusiastically said, “Sure!”, and promptly ordered the weather sensors.

We identified three critical locations where we were lacking data needed to enhance our forecasting: downtown Pagosa Springs, Arboles, and Chama.

Well, downtown Pagosa was easy – The Springs Resort! We walked the property with The Springs Resort team, discussed a few sites’ pros and cons, and settled on a good spot.

Next, I reached out to a couple of our faithful followers in Arboles and Chama. Martha and John from Arboles enthusiastically said yes, and so did Bill from Chama!

First, we met with Martha and John from Arboles, and discussed the weather sensor and our goals. They picked up their Springs Resort donated weather sensor and complimentary soaking passes for helping fill the data gaps.

Then we met Bill from Chama for lunch and had a similar conversation. He also picked up his weather sensor, donated from The Springs Resort, and again the resort generously handed him a few passes to soak in the hot springs!

The new data is now available to everyone on Weather Underground. The next goal is to get the weather data on The Springs Resort and Pagosa Weather websites.

We are just so humbled and honored to get such generous support and contributions! We thank everyone with The Springs Resort, Jesse and TJ with The Springs Resort – Marketing Team, Martha and John in Arboles, and Bill from Chama.

I’ve been a “weather geek” since I was young child. I joined the military out of high school and was lucky to get my dream job in weather. I have 20 years of military weather experience which includes forecasting the weather all over the world. Highlights were six years in Alaska and making life and death weather decisions during deployments. I love mountains, I love snow, and I love summertime thunderstorms. I spend a bunch of time playing outdoors and found my paradise in Pagosa Springs. I do Pagosa Weather as a community service. Hopefully you find us helpful!
