A serene sunset over Pagosa Country! Pic taken 9/19/2021

Overall situation…
At Stevens Field the high yesterday was 73 and the low this morning was 44. The peak wind at the airfield was 29mph. Temps this morning were mostly in the mid-30s to mid-40s – about 5 degrees warmer than I expected. I didn’t see any precip in the last 24 hours.
The actual front will move through our area today. The only change we’ll see are gusty winds this afternoon and colder temps tomorrow morning. By late tomorrow a strong high pressure will be parked over AZ and will give us really nice weather the rest of the week.

My forecast…
Today… We’ll see a few mid and upper level clouds, gusty afternoon winds, and pleasant temps. High temps will be around 70 to the mid-70s. Lows tonight will be in the mid-20s to mid-30s. Afternoon winds will peak around 30mph.

Tuesday through Saturday… Lots of sun, dry, and pleasant temps – really nice weather! Highs will be around 70 to the upper 70s and lows will be in the upper 20s to upper 30s. Afternoon winds will peak around 20mph.

Pagosa Springs historical data

My next post will be on Wednesday.

What home weather station do you recommend? We are East and down the hill from Stevens field at Holiday and Park Aves. I am mainly concerned with wind. Thanks!
Good morning Carl,
Check out this article from June with some suggestions. You want to be sure to mount the anemometer on a stable platform and make sure that it is level.

We’d love to see your observations on WeatherUnderground.
