Sponsors

We LOVE our Sponsors!  They just amaze us with their support!

This Month’s Featured Sponsor: Dr. Leo Milner, D.C., Chiropractor Services, was a sponsor before we had a sponsor program. The Pagosa Weather, the nonprofit, will be five years old this month.

Five years ago as we were awaiting approval as a nonprofit, we were contacted by Dr. Milner. He was an active follower of Pagosa Weather and a science enthusiast. He wanted to sponsor the nonprofit! So I had to design a program… He has been a supportive and loyal Snowball Sponsor for five years now and a CoCoRaHS observer.

We turn to him every few weeks to adjust our degenerative backs, after shoveling snow, snowboarding falls, mountain bike spills and other tumbles have us walking a little stiff and sideways.

Thank you, Leo, for all your support!

Community Outreach!

Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce Gala

The Gala is an evening of live music, delicious food, a cash bar, silent auction, and the presentation of the Community Award winners. It is the best networking event of the year!

Shawn and I were honored to be recognized as Citizens of the Year because of our work with Pagosa Weather! It was wonderful to be there and be part of an event that recognized so many wonderful businesses including our Blizzard sponsor, Ski and Bow Rack, who was recognized as small business of the year. In addition other nonprofit organizations and so many dedicated individuals were recognized. We’re so proud to be part of the Pagosa Springs Community!

Huge thanks to the rest of the Pagosa Weather team; our nonprofit board (Udgar, Deborah, Jane, Debbie, Kenny), our website manager Do, all our CoCoRaHS observers, and all of you, our Followers!

The wonderful Chamber director Sandy Douthey closed the evening out by leading everyone in a snow-dance! It worked! A few days later we had the best snow storm of the year!!!

Arleen & Shawn’s Pagosa Weather Anniversary

Shawn and I celebrated being with Pagosa Weather seven years last month. We joined Pagosa Weather (when it was just a Facebook blog) and Todd Cook on February 23rd, 2019. Todd left for Idaho soon after. Though we continue to collaborate & geek out on weather together.

Pagosa Weather has grown quite a bit in those seven years. In 2019, Pagosa Weather Facebook had just over 3,000 followers. Now we have over 17,000 followers. We send out over 1,000 emails each time we update a post. And we have a website and are a nonprofit with a robust community outreach program.

The website stood up on March 19th, 2021! That is also that date we officially became a nonprofit. So we’ll be celebrating both of those five year anniversaries this month.

The event features a festive, short parade with green-clad participants, bagpipers, and, on-site vendors, plus free hot food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pagosa Weather will be there with a booth! We’ll be set up by 10:30. Come on by and say hello! Tommy, our mascot will be there, too.

Weather Data Lovers, CoCoRaHS has released CoCoRaHS Data Explorer, or “DEx” for short.  This tool provides countless new ways to visualize and analyze data.  Note: it is highly recommended to use larger screens when viewing the DEx.
Click here to go to the DEx Station Search page for data access to any station in the database. (open to the public)

I grew up in Montana where my love of the mountains is rooted. I served in the Air Force, forecasting aviation weather, for 24 years. I had eight assignments and my favorites were Colorado, Alaska, Korea, and Germany. I deployed several times, including to Iraq and Afghanistan. After RV traveling for nine years, Shawn and I found paradise in Pagosa. Here we enjoy playing outside in the spectacular San Juan mountains!
