Tropical Storm Priscilla Wrap-Up

Kayakers on river

Kayakers on the San Juan River yesterday afternoon when the river was at about 10.5 feet.

Sunday – 12 Oct 2025 – 4:15pm

Priscilla was a horrible dinner guest! She has been sent home and will never be invited back again. In addition, we are banning all rain dances for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, TS Raymond is still going to visit. Shawn will have a full weather forecast post out around 5:00pm.

Our thoughts are with those who had to evacuate their homes due to flooding of the San Juan River in the last few days. We know this storm has done a lot of damage to homes and businesses including The Springs Resort, our storm sponsor. In addition, the flood caused damage to infrastructure including roads and water utilities. It came close to impacting power as well.

We are proud to be Pagosans as we witnessed the community come together to take care of each other and those in harm’s way. I know we will continue to do that till everyone and everything is whole again.

For the latest updates we recommend following Archuleta County, CO Sheriff’s Office on Facebook and The Pagosa Springs SUN newspaper on Facebook. Both of those organizations will have the latest updates posted.

This post is a wrap up of Tropical Storm Priscilla and how she impacted the area as she moved through the Pagosa Springs area.

I grew up in Montana where my love of the mountains is rooted. I served in the Air Force, forecasting aviation weather, for 24 years. I had eight assignments and my favorites were Colorado, Alaska, Korea, and Germany. I deployed several times, including to Iraq and Afghanistan. After RV traveling for nine years, Shawn and I found paradise in Pagosa. Here we enjoy playing outside in the spectacular San Juan mountains!
