Precipitation summary… Scattered light snowshowers fell over the mountains much of Thursday. Wolf Creek reported 1” of new snow this afternoon.
Forecast discussion…

Radar isn’t picking up the light scattered snowshowers over mountains. Otherwise, there isn’t much going on in our area.
Forecast highlights…
*** Thursday evening scattered mountain snowshowers will end. ***
*** Saturday and Sunday afternoons expect light scattered snowshowers mostly over the mountains. ***
Thursday night through Sunday… There is a strong ridge along the coast and a low over southwest NM. Upper-level flow is out of the north in our area.
Moisture and clouds will decrease tonight and tomorrow.
Saturday and Sunday another trough with limited moisture will move through from the north. Just like today, scattered light snowshowers will be mostly over the mountains. Lucky spots in the mountains could get an inch of snow each day while Pagosa will be lucky to see a few snowflakes.
Temps… Thursday highs are in the low to mid-30s and low tonight will be -5 to 10. Friday highs will be in the low to high 30s and lows will be in the low single digits to low teens. Saturday highs will be in the mid to high 30s and lows will be near zero to the low teens. Sunday highs will be in the mid-20s to low 30s and lows will be -5 to 10.
Winds… Thursday winds will taper off during the evening. Friday afternoon peaks will be around 10mph. Saturday and Sunday afternoon gusts will be around 15mph.

Monday through Wednesday… A low will spin off the southern CA coast while a ridge persists over us. We’ll see lots of sun and a warming trend.
Temps… Monday highs will be in the mid-20s to low 30s and lows will be -5 to 10. Tuesday highs will be in the mid-30s to low 40s and lows will be in the mid-singles to mid-teens. Wednesday highs will be in the low to high 40s and lows will be near 10 to near 20.
Winds… Afternoon peaks will be 5-10mph.
The 8-15 day period… Next Thursday through next weekend could be unsettled as the low off the CA coast slowly moves west. The forecast models are all over the place, so my forecast confidence is low. Let’s hope it turns into a decent storm for us!

In the upper left the Euro ensemble shows 0.75”.
In the upper right the Euro AI shows 1.32”.
In the bottom left the GFS ensemble shows 0.47”.
In the bottom right the Canadian ensemble shows 1.01”.
The forecast models are all over the place, so I don’t trust them.
My next post will be on Saturday.
