Pagosa Weather Website is 3 years old Today!

Arleen, Dr. Milner, D.C. and Shawn

Thanks in part to our sponsors such as Dr. Leo Milner, D.C., our first sponsor!!!

Three years ago as we were putting the finishing touches on the new website, we were contacted by Dr. Leo Milner, a local chiropractor. Dr. Milner was an active follower of Pagosa Weather and a science enthusiast. He wanted to help sponsor the website!

To that point, Shawn and I had been absorbing all the costs of running Pagosa Weather. But the costs of the new website were adding up and I knew we needed to do something different. So I started the process of applying to be a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization. Based on Dr. Milner’s request, I also got busy researching a sponsor program and designed one for nine sponsors of which Dr. Milner was our first! He has been a supportive and loyal Snowball Sponsor for three years now.

More than that, we now consider Dr Milner a friend. Plus, we turn to him every few weeks to adjust our degenerative backs, after shoveling snow, snowboarding falls, mountain bike spills and other tumbles have us walking a little stiff and sideways.

Dr. Milner was soon joined by other sponsors including Snowball sponsors Peggy Andrews (Independent Real Estate Broker), San Juan Sled Dogs, Pagosa Mountain Sports, Wilderness Journeys, Snowman sponsors Terry’s Ace, Alley House, Pagosa Medical Center, our Blizzard sponsor Ski & Bow Rack, and our Storm sponsor The Springs Resort.

In addition, we have had many of our followers make generous personal donations. Our sponsors and these personal donations help us pay for a website manager, the website, commercial weather subscriptions, and other business expenses. Most importantly, they ensure that we will be able to provide Pagosa Weather as a free service for everyone for years to come.

Shawn and I have been truly touched by the support our followers have shown for us! THANK YOU!!!

I grew up in Montana where my love of the mountains is rooted. I was in the Air Force, forecasting aviation weather, for 24 years. I had eight assignments and my favorites were Colorado, Alaska, Korea, and Germany. I deployed a number of times including to Iraq and Afghanistan. After RV traveling for nine years, we found paradise in Pagosa. Here we enjoy playing outside in the spectacular San Juan mountains!
