Contest – When will we have 24″ of snow on the ground?

Wednesday – 23 Dec 2020 – 6:00pm

For funsies and to promote one of our favorite local businesses, Pagosa Weather is doing our second weather contest.

The contest and prize…

Forecast the date and time we measure 24” of snow depth on the ground.  The person with the closest guess will get a $25 coupon for THE HUB!

The Hub is a full service bike store that also sells snowshoes, tubes, sleds, stand up paddle boards, and scooters.  For those of you looking at to get a little winter fun they also rent snowshoes and tubes/sleds during the winter.  See their web page for all the details: https://www.pagosabikeshop.com/

The rules…

– Each person can make one guess in the comments of this post

– The guess must include a date and time – Example: 30 Dec at 6:30am

– Multiple same guesses will go to the first person with that guess

– Guesses saying it won’t happen are not allowed.  If we fail to get 24” of snow on the ground, there will be no winner, and we’ll carry the prize over to a future contest.

– No more guesses after Sunday, 27 Dec 2020 at 11:59pm

– We will coordinate with the winner how to collect the prize.

– The Pagosa Weather team is excluded – sorry Mark!

Verification…

– We will use the snow pole on our property north of town.  We will declare a winner when the red line indicating 24” disappears.  We will provide updates and pictures as the snow creeps up the pole.  A picture of the snow pole is in the Facebook comments.

Let’s have fun and support our local businesses!

I’ve been a “weather geek” since I was young child. I joined the military out of high school and was lucky to get my dream job in weather. I have 20 years of military weather experience which includes forecasting the weather all over the world. Highlights were six years in Alaska and making life and death weather decisions during deployments. I love mountains, I love snow, and I love summertime thunderstorms. I spend a bunch of time playing outdoors and found my paradise in Pagosa Springs. I do Pagosa Weather as a community service. Hopefully you find us helpful!
