Tuesday, July 15, 5:00pm to 7:30pm at CSU Extension Building at Fairgrounds

Recent flood events coupled with our dry summer, has us thinking about what would we do if we were impacted by a major natural disaster here in Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County.

On Oct 5th, 1911, the San Juan River crested at 17.8 feet, 13 feet above normal and resulted in two deaths and major, extensive damage.

Every dry warm summer there is a concern for a major wildfire that could reach our neighborhoods.

CSU Extension Agency in combination with Archuleta County Public Health is having a workshop Tuesday, July 15th that is free & open to the public on Emergency preparedness.

Below is the outline for the evening:

5:00pm             Brief introductions and housekeeping

5:00-5:30         Safety and emergency                        Stanley Okazaki/Roy Vega, Archuleta County Emergency MGMT

I grew up in Montana where my love of the mountains is rooted. I served in the Air Force, forecasting aviation weather, for 24 years. I had eight assignments and my favorites were Colorado, Alaska, Korea, and Germany. I deployed several times, including to Iraq and Afghanistan. After RV traveling for nine years, Shawn and I found paradise in Pagosa. Here we enjoy playing outside in the spectacular San Juan mountains!
