The Monsoon Talk will be Wednesday, May 21st at 1:00pm at the Ruby Sisson Library!
After such an abysmal winter, with one of our lowest historical snow packs, we need a good, wet monsoon.
Join Arleen and Shawn Prochazka as they talk about Monsoon Season in the southern San Juan Mountains. Arleen will explain exactly how and when the monsoon sets up in our area. In addition, I will go over the evidence that indicates whether we are going to have a weak, average, or a strong monsoon season.
Last year we had a beautiful monsoon of 8.27″ of precipitation for the monsoon season months of July, August, and September. That was above the average of 6.25″. We need another year with at least that much or more after our abysmal winter and given our current drought conditions.
We’ll also go over some lightning safety and what our favorite apps are for tracking thunderstorm activity.
As always, we’ll have time to answer any of your weather questions. See you next Wednesday at 1:00 in the afternoon!
