Forecast discussion…

Forecast highlights…
*** Highs near 70 in Pagosa Tuesday and Wednesday. ***
*** Spotty mountain snowshowers Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons. ***
*** Weak storm possible Sunday and Monday. ***
Rest of Saturday through Wednesday … For much of this period a ridge will be in control, and we’ll stay dry.
Saturday afternoon a fast-moving trough will move through northern Colorado. We’ll see a few more clouds and maybe a few spotty snowshowers along The Divide. The troughs will help kick up the winds.
Temps…
Saturday highs will be in the low to high 50s and lows will be in the low to high 20s.
Sunday highs will be in the mid-50s to low 60s and lows will be near 20 to the high 20s.
Monday highs will be in the high 50s to mid-60s and lows will be in the low 20s to low 30s.
Tuesday and Wednesday highs will be in the mid-60s to low 70s and lows will be in the mid-20s to mid-30s.
Winds…
Saturday afternoon gusts in the Pagosa area will be 25-30mph and in the mountains gusts to 40mph are possible.
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons afternoon gusts will be 15-20mph.

Thursday through Saturday… The ridge will move to our east. Upper-level southwest flow will be a little more unstable so spotty showers will develop over the mountains each afternoon. Lucky spots in the mountains could get up to 2” of snow.
Temps… Thursday highs will be near 60 to the high 60s and lows will be in the high 20s to mid-30s. Friday and Saturday highs will be in the mid-50s to low 60s and lows will be in the low to high 20s.
Winds… Thursday and Saturday afternoon gusts will be 20-25mph. Friday afternoon gusts will be 25-30mph.

The 8-14 day period… The pattern will try to get more active, but I don’t see any big storms on the horizon.

The next thorough post will be on Monday.
