Everything is prettier in the snow!

If you like snow, it’s glorious!
I measured 8″ of light powdery snow at 7:00am, at 8,000ft elevation, northwest of Pagosa Springs.
Even lighter, more powdery snow has been falling heavily up at Wolf Creek Ski Area all night. They reported 17″ of snow in the last 24 hours bringing their storm total to 44″!
Archuleta County schools are CLOSED for the day. County court and services are on a two hour delay.
Area roads are snowpacked and slick. Visibility is poor.
So far the wind has been nearly calm in the Pagosa area. Sadly that will change later this morning as the trough moves through. This beautiful snow is going to get blown around by winds up to 30mph.
CoCoRaHS observers, the sooner you measure snow this morning, the better! Thank you!
Another 1-3″ of snow will fall in the Pagosa area before it tapers off 11 to noon. A few spotty snowshowers are possible in the afternoon but they won’t amount to anything.
Up at Wolf Creek, another 3-6″ of snow is likely. Snowshowers will persist through the afternoon and visibility will be poor.
