The San Juan River has risen higher than the previous crest. At 5am this morning it hit 12.82ft and 8,560cfs.
Highway 160 is closed in Pagosa Springs and on Wolf Creek Pass.
From Archuleta County, CO Sheriff’s Office…
Archuleta County School District has closed schools in the district for today due to the high water and impact on infrastructure.
Mandatory evacuations will remain in place until ingress and egress has been evaluated and it is deemed safe to return to areas affected. The Evacuation Shelter is still open available to receive anyone that needs accommodation.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone being impacted.
We’ll get a bit of a break today. Instead of long periods of steady rain, we will switch to hit and miss showers and thunderstorms. Expect brief periods of heavy rain over small areas, small hail, gusty winds, and lightning.
I think the river will slowly come down this morning.
We’ll do a more thorough post later today. Stay tuned to Facebook for quick updates.
