Troy Rettig is the winner of The Springs Resort dinner for two at the Wild Finch restaurant!
Congratulations Troy! You were right with your guess of a less than average monsoon season.
Sadly, our monsoon season was almost an inch below normal. The monsoon started early on June 20th giving us .26″ at the end of June. We had 1.55″ in July and only .98″ in August. Fortunately, in September between a a little residual moisture from a few tropical storms and a few cutoff lows, we had above average precipitation or a total average of 2.58″ (average is 2.00″). That put the total Monsoon season ’25 at 5.37“. Our average monsoon season is 6.25”.
We’ll have a new contest out soon for the first two feet of snow measured in O’Neal Park which is 7 miles northwest of Pagosa Springs. After this monsoon season, we need a good winter.
Again, huge thanks to the team at The Springs Resort for the support of our weather contests and for being our Storm sponsor!
This contest is now closed to new guesses. Good luck to everyone and let it rain! Huge thanks to the team at The Springs Resort for the support of our weather contests and for being our Storm sponsor!
The winner receives dinner for 2 at the Wild Finch restaurant from The Springs Resort!
The Contest
Forecast the amount of measured rain that the Pagosa Springs area will receive during the monsoon season. This includes the months of July, August, and September, to the nearest 100th of an inch. If the monsoon starts earlier in June, as in the summer of 2024 due to moisture from Tropical Storm Alberto, Arleen and Shawn will determine the exact date that the monsoon set up and include that data from those dates.
