Winter Outlook Talk at the County Extension Agency

11 Nov 2023 am Winter weather presentation
Some of the lovely crowd that turned out to hear the Pagosa Weather winter weather talk.

Thanks to Robin Young, Archuleta County Extension agent for once again supporting Pagosa Weather. We have formed a wonderful collaborative relationship with Robin. This was the 3rd event we’ve done together. This was the first winter outlook talk. It’s a perfect venue for it.

We had about 35 Pagosa Weather followers who turned out to learn about the winter weather patterns in our area. Arleen also explained what sort of winter she was expecting this year.

As always, we fielded some great questions and had a lively discussion after the talk. Some of our followers are now apprentice meteorologists and might be ready to join Pagosa Weather some day.

HELP! Do you or do you have a friend that lives in one of the five areas highlighted below?

Archuleta County is well represented but we still have big data gaps. We really need a volunteer in Arboles, Dulce, west on Highway 160, Pagosa Junction, and the upper Blanco. Sign up by filling out this web page: https://www.cocorahs.org/application.aspx. Or send us a note and we can send you more detailed information.

Perhaps, our January Newsletter will show fewer red circles!

CoCoRaHS Map

The red circles are areas we could use a CoCoRaHS observer. Let us know if you can give us 5 to 10 minutes every morning to measure precip and snow. CoCoRaHS provides all the training you need.

I grew up in Montana where my love of the mountains is rooted. I was in the Air Force, forecasting aviation weather, for 24 years. I had eight assignments and my favorites were Colorado, Alaska, Korea, and Germany. I deployed a number of times including to Iraq and Afghanistan. After RV traveling for nine years, we found paradise in Pagosa. Here we enjoy playing outside in the spectacular San Juan mountains!
