Community Outreach

Pagosa Springs 4th of July, Independence Day Parade!

IMG E4124
Our wonderful team composed of the Pagosa Weather Team, Board members, and enthusiastic Pagosa Weather followers who all came out to help celebrate our Freedoms! L-R; Melinda, Sharon, Debbie, Mary, Arleen, Shawn, Mark, Chris, Deborah, Kate, Greg, Rob.

Our Pagosa Weather Team with Mark Langford leading the way in his pretty blue Jeep, was in the Pagosa Springs 4th of July Parade for the second year. We had such a fun group helping us this year. So many of them help us throughout the year in many other ways. We are so thankful to them!

We literally ran with the parade handing out little cloud stress balls and mint candies. The parade kept a faster pace this year so it was hard for us to meet all our Pagosa Weather followers out there. But we could hear you! It just warms our hearts and that is a huge reward for all our hard work!

CoCoRaHS Newsletter Updates

Pagosa Weather is the Archuleta County “CoCoRaHS Coordinator” and “Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador”.

Do you or do you have a friend that lives in one of the five areas highlighted below?

Archuleta County is well represented but we still have big data gaps. We really need a volunteer in Arboles, Dulce, west on Highway 160, Pagosa Junction, and the upper Blanco. Sign up by filling out this web page: https://www.cocorahs.org/application.aspx. Or send us a note and we can send you more detailed information.

Perhaps, our July Newsletter will show fewer red circles!

CoCoRaHS Map

The red circles are areas we could use a CoCoRaHS observer. Let us know if you can give us 5 to 10 minutes every morning to measure precip and snow. CoCoRaHS provides all the training you need.

Forecast the amount of measured rain that Pagosa Springs will receive during the three months of monsoon season from July through September to the nearest 100th of an inch. I love how positive some of the guesses were!

I grew up in Montana where my love of mountains is rooted. I was in the Air Force for 24 years; Weather Observer to Weather Forecaster to Staff Weather Officer all to ensure flight safety. Mission was to brief aircrews on clouds, winds, turbulence, icing, thunderstorms. I served a total of 8 assignments and 4 deployments around the world. After RV traveling full time for 9 years, we found paradise in Pagosa. Here we enjoy hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, snowshoeing, skiing in spectacular mountains! Plus, we're trying to solve the San Juan weather puzzle! I am an AMS member.
