UPDATE: We have a winner!

Yesterday, April 17th at 14:54 a thunder snowshower passed over Pagosa and a lightning strike hit 2 and a half miles east of Pagosa. We were able to confirm this on the Lightning Bug App and the Radar Scope Pro app. This was further confirmed by roving weather reporter Keena Carstensen who heard the thunder from downtown and Laura Link who reported thunder from the Riverside RV Park.

Runner up was Susan Zoerb with a guess of April 16th at at 2:00am. She was only 36 hours and 54 minutes off. There was one closer guess… The winner is…

MARIE HUMENCZUK had a guess time April 18th at 9:52pm and was only 30 hours and 58 minutes off. Marie you can pick up your $25 gift certificate at Four Corners Organics; Garden & Grow Supply at 68 Bastille Dr. Unit #3.

Congratulations, Marie!

I grew up in Montana where my love of mountains is rooted. I was in the Air Force for 24 years; Weather Observer to Weather Forecaster to Staff Weather Officer all to ensure flight safety. Mission was to brief aircrews on clouds, winds, turbulence, icing, thunderstorms. I served a total of 8 assignments and 4 deployments around the world. After RV traveling full time for 9 years, we found paradise in Pagosa. Here we enjoy hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, snowshoeing, skiing in spectacular mountains! Plus, we're trying to solve the San Juan weather puzzle! I am an AMS member.
